Stripper Affogato di Gelato

An affogato di gelato, or “gelato drowned by espresso”, is a simple, entertaining finish to a meal.

Ah, but an affogato presented in a stripper shot glass procured from the Las Vegas airport, is something to behold.  And, served with a biscotti ‘stripper pole’ — well, that just spins it right over the top.

For a dinner party service, rather than pull repeated shots from the big espresso machine (noisy and slower), a I find a Bialetti Moka Express pot just perfect.  Presetting the pot with espresso and water makes service easy and quick, so you don’t miss any of the dinner conversation.

Stripper Affogato di Gelato
serves 4

  • 4 shots brewed espresso or strong coffee
  • 4-8 each biscotti
  • 4 scoops gelato or ice cream

While espresso is brewing, set up four plates, each holding a small bowl, a stripper shot glass, a spoon and biscotti.  When espresso is nearly finished, scoop gelato into bowls.  Pour espresso into stripper shot glasses and serve.  Letting guests pour their espresso onto the gelato not only cuts down excess meltage during service, but it’s just good clean fun.  Well, as clean as it gets with a stripper.
